Hello,
I have some reservation on this policy of penalty to seller for payment refunded by system, seller or buyer.
We sell handmade solid wood furniture items here.
The mode of transport used is Road as that is the only economical way to move such heavy items.
Also since we use Road cargo deliveries which have many transhipment so the transit time for delivery vary from 5 days to 18 days depending on the distance from our city.
All goods are made to order and we have predeclared it in our listing about the same.
1) The problem is that many times the buyer declines the 'time extension' related to production time and/or transit time irrespective of our predeclared terms and our auto mail to them immediately after purchase repeating the same information.
In such case since there is no option of resending the time extension request so we have to refund the buyer for not providing us with time extension as predeclared.
Some things are not practically possible such as delivery by road within 10 days (by default) to a place oppposite end of the country with many transipments by road.
2) With increase in online users from metros to small towns sometimes buyer purchase it for delivery to an area where even the road cargo companies do not have a branch and even if they agree to manage the delivery to such a non-cargo branch area than they demand ODA charge i.e extra shipping.
Now 8 out of 10 times the buyers refuses to pay more as the ebay listing says delivery anywhere in India. Also 5 out of 10 times the cargo refuses to delivery to such non-cargo branch areas.Hence we have to arrange the refund to the buyer if any of the above thing happen.
Considering above points we every month end up with such penalty which we cannot avoid even if we want to as the buyers do not read before buying or decide against the time extension post purchase.
What should be done?
Regards,
Sonia
