ebay is becoming INDIA'S BIGGEST FAKE BAZAAR

Hello,

There are hundreds of fake goods available on ebay.in

Copyrights are being violated openly but there is NO check at all.

When ever you report fake products or violation of copyrights ......

ebay asks
you to tell the Intellectual rights owner (people who own the brand / copyright)
to report to ebay.

Now who has the time to do all this ? ..... Nobody.

And neither do the Rights Owners have so much time to bang their head on such
a complicated system.

So, the Fraud Sellers are minting money.... and ebay is happy..... collecting
transaction fee.

The standard reply.... when ever you report copyrights violations is....

eBay is not an expert in your intellectual property
rights,

and cannot verify that sellers have the right to
sell the millions of items they post on eBay.

I am afraid that if thats the speed with which more and more fake products and
Copyrights violations

are entering ebay ..........then the day is not too far away .........when
ebay would be known as........

India's biggest FAKE
BAZAAR

ebay just wake up and simplify the reporting system.

Some hard steps must be taken to stop Fake products entering ebay.

Foolproof Sellers verification is needed.

There should be harsh Penalities for selling fake products.

Sellers must be required to submit their TIN number & PAN number.

I would request everybody to report Fake Products & Copyrights violations on
this thread.

Also, would request other members to post their views on this Topic.

Lets force ebay to clean up the site and make ebay a
FUN BAZAAR.

Hi Umang,

Fully agree with you. There are too many frauds and fake sellers operating on eBay. For me the Trust and Safety team of eBay is just to protect eBay from the legal problems it faces and does miniscule actions to protect the buyers once they have been defrauded. According to eBay's safety team, its mostly the onus of the buyer to protect himself, eBay shred off all their moral responsibilities in each and every rule.

Its always advisable to take more information for each member (like adress proof et al) , but what is more important is that eBay has to address and investigate each and every fraud cases or atleast report those to some competent legal authority. eBay is becoming a merry ground for the frauds without any visible evasive actions against them.

eBay can request for a compulsory survey from all its member. I think most will put a failed grade for eBay's T&S department. .

Hi Swarup,
You been to continent. Do you think that this place India is more unsafe for buyers than other places? China has a autocratic society with their firing squads and all, but they comfortably list fakes or substandards which no buyer in India will touch with a ten feet long pole. Fake can never look same as the real one. Look at them and you know.

Hi Umang & Swarup,

I also agree with you both. There are too many frauds / fake sellers using eBay.

Even a 256 MB memory card is being sold as 512MB at cheap rates and the buyers get cheated.

To avoid fake sellers, eBay should verify all the seller's address like Election Card / Driving Licecese.

SMS Verification can be done with any mobile in 2 sec. ---------------

Dear Raha-da (amitava123gems),

The Chinese are definitely flooding the Indian market with sub-standard and fake goods. Their product quality in Europe is also far below the normal European standard we are used to. So the situation is still not that bad in ebay.in as you have rightly said.

Still, I think its better if we strive to make our standards and attitude comparable with the Europeans & Americans rather than with the Chinese. In ebay.in we still have not seen so many chinese fake goods but when some sellers are selling those, we must put our voice to stop those at the root and prevent any further exploitation and loss of buyers. People must know exactly what they are buying. .

wait a second Guys..lets not lose tyrack of Umangs Complaint. he said several fake products are being sold. now let us not bring the chinese in..

first of all...about the IPR. as per ebay rules - pirated products are not to be sold. however there are atleast 1200 Listings for pirated software / Games here being sold at 99/- a Genuine PS2 game costs Rs. 375 and above. when a genuine seller lists licensed products - the TnS team removes his listings and asks him to produce proof of ownership.

eg> HP/ Compaq laptops being sold with Bundled software, Antivirus for Mobiles etc. when laptops are manufactured and preloaded with the OS / Important Software each Softwarre is licensed by the manufacturer as an OEM product.

secondly Imitation products - several Imitation products are being sold as real / with keyword Spamming e.g. Like Apple Ipod 1 GB MP4 Player... NOW ipod has not brought out any MP4 Player. 1 i GB ipod nano costs 9000. whereas this imitation costs 2500/- when i had listed a product " Sanyo NIMH 2100 mA batteries for Sony Digital cameras " they removed my listings saying it amounts to Keyword spamming. However this "Like IPOD" listings do not result in keyword spamming i guess. So also batteries for Nokia Mobiles are the Cheap ones that come for 40 Rs. a piece without even the Nokia Monogram, are being sold as originals..

"Bluetooth headsets" that are listed in many cases for 49, 99, 149, are not even wireless headsets.. its some company that is using the term "bluetooth" along with the "b" logo for selling wired cheap quality handsets, and ebay Tn S team thinks it is the genuine stuff!! Night Vision Webcamera's Sold for 649, 749/- etc are all Cheap chinese rip offs which do not have the clarity nor in several cases the driver matching the hardware

its time ebay took some action, failing which im sure the say isnt far when Nasscom would come after ebay, just as the police had come after Baazee in the Porn MMS case, and Avnish was made to sit in jail for a day!
