Suggestion on Shipping & Insurance cost

Hi,

There are too many postings on this board regarding abnormal shipping charges. Hope eBay.in will come up with a shipping cost policy soon as this problem is more specific to India.

Here is a suggestion:
eBay.in can determine a max. shipping cost (for each shipping options like National, local etc.). eBay should determine a separate set of shipping costs for various final price ranges - say, separate sets for <10000, 10000-100000, 100000+. Let the sellers just mention a discount (if any) on the eBay specified max. shipping charges by means of % or amount at appropriate fields at the time of submission of listing.

Also eBay.in must have a similar policy regarding Insurance charges otherwise some will start loading abnormal insurance charges on their items.

Any taxation charged on the item price must be in strict accordance with the rules of GoI & respective state Govt.

Suggestion on Shipping & Insurance cost

Hi Swarup,

I don't think it will be accurate and the seller will end up adding amount to the product price.

Some products costs less, but due to weightage, shipping costs more.

Most of the Buyers are really intelligent as they add up both the product cost + shipping cost and do purchase them.

I feel nothing to worry on this. ---------------

Hi Navaneeth,

I agree with you that the shipping cost is based on the weight of the item also. Packing and shipping a fragile item also cost more.

Actually, in a recent video conference Mr. Rajesh Iyer told us that eBay.in may soon be forming some norms regarding shipping costs. So, I just wanted to put my opinion for the possible forthcoming shipping norms.

I, like most other members, always add up both the costs (and taxes, if any) while bidding. But while searching for low cost items, sometimes it really irritates me. All starts at Re.1 and I can't sort the items as per increasing total cost. So it takes more time to find out the ideal ones from the hundreds of listings.

I was seeing your listings again. Alongwith the low priced items, you have many listings reasonably priced at above 4000/- with justified courier charges. So on a sale you will be paying eBay more than 200/- as FVF. If somebody sell that same item beside you for Re.1 and a courier charge of Rs.4000, then he will be making an extra profit 200+. So either you have to do the same unfair trick of putting abnormal shipping charges or loose to him. For me, personally, this is not fair. Then at one point of time we may have only Re1/- items with varying shipping costs, after all it would save fees !!

These are just my personal views to a good and cooperative friend like you and I can definitely be wrong.. Best Regards ๐Ÿ˜„
