Query to ebay: donating my time to ebay as a moderator.

Dear ebay,

I would consider myself as fairly active in these forums. Not as active as members like Mr.Raj, but still active.

Over the last few weeks i have noticed a very disturbing trend. It seems that there is just no moderators in the forums, or those assigned do not believe in quality control. Some users who are upset because they did not receive their diwali or monsoon gifts have been indulging in all kinds of activities like Flaming, Bumping the thread and Spamming on other threads, as well as re-opening all old long-dead threads that even remotely relate to ebay gifts.

I had myself taken on one of these users with a positive result. However, ebay moderators (if there are any) cannot be bothered with these things.

I do understand that one of the assumptions in these forums is that people are basically good, but what is expected of the moderators is a little quality control. Some of the activities mentioned above are frowned upon even in casual forums.

ebay, on the other hand is a professional/business forum and is expected at least to react to these kind of behavior. I hope ebay understands that newcomers to ebay are more prone to visit the forums to resolve their doubt. When they see such a state of affairs here, it does not do ebay any good.

I can understand that moderating a forum can be a thankless job and probably even repetitive. If ebay is in any way not able to procure an able moderator, then i'd like to donate my time here for free. Anyone else also willing to donate their time now have a place to communicate the same to ebay. -- Signature: I am Jack's complete lack of surprise.

Hi,

Nice to see that members like you showing interests on Community Boards.

I am regularly posting on Community boards from past 4-5 years. The issue is most of the members post only if there is a issue.

Making a moderator was a earlier proposal which didn't worked out. I strongly feel that eBay can make some sellers as Moderators with some privileges. ---------------

It is really heartening to see some members taking initiative so that ebay forum does not become a "Chalta Hai" thing which it is right now.

People like Mr.Mehta, Mr.Navaneeth, myself and many others are very regular in these forums and I think that Mr. Mehta idea is good of regular contributors moderating this forum. The moderator mix should consist of sellers, buyers and also women they should have good understanding of ebay rules, some forum moderation experience and command over written and spoken English.

I also offer my services to ebay as moderator if its OK with ebay. I have been on ebay for 10 yrs now. I have a vast experience in Electronics and IT and also strong background in Customer Service and Retail Sales.
