PaisaPay asks buyer to fax copy of credit card over an insecure line

Recently a buyer from USA purchased three items for me and promptly paid by paisapay. The payment was under authorisation for three days and finally rejected by paisapay.A mail was received by me from paisapay with the following information

"credit card payment has been rejected by PaisaPay Customer Support due to the following reason: Buyer requested for cancellation"

when I wrote a mail to the buyer I got the following reply from the buyer:

"I have traded on EBAY-India many, many times and used PaisaPay, Only this time they wanted me to fax a copy of my credit card to them in India over an insecure line. My credit card company advised me not to do so. The only alternative paisapay gave me was to cancel my order.

My feedback speaks for itself, I have an excellent reputation on Ebay and Ebay-India for prompt payment. I was very upset when this happened. I am sorry."
=====================================================
When I advocate paisapay to my buyers, I mention Paisapay is Fast, Safe & Secure. Is it the kind of security offered by eBay India to International buyers. Now I understand why many buyers backed out in the name of Paisapay.

Will eBay explain why they can't offer a safe mode of payment by International buyers?

Dear soma33123,

We do understand you concern. The verification documents are requested to safe guard the interest of the card member. Please be assured that we are constantly working towards protecting misuse use of the credit card & while doing so in certain cases we request for Proof of identification documents to ascertain that the user is the rightful owner of the credit card used in the transaction.

As far as the fax is concerned the POI documents are received on a secure mail server before being sent to authorised employees in eBay.

Please find the below link on PaisaPay Data Privacy And Security Policy

Regards,

Yeah i totally understand what you are saying soma33123.
Some months back a buyer from USA wrote a similar mail to me when ebay sent him an email requesting him to fax his credit card's copy.
I know its rather absurd that they are slowing things down soooo much, and in all in the name of security.
Well what is security without trust. Surely no one can trust a third party with all his card details, even though they may calim to have secure servers and whatever.
I had raised this issue back then again, and even in an open house chat and I got a plaintiff response all the time : security.

The best thing is to get on with it. Start accepting paypal, cuz dont thnk ebays gonna budge on the standpoint, however illogical that may be.
