Introducing a cool new feature - Gallery Plus!

Dear Members,

We will like to introduce Gallery Plus, which will be available in the next few days. Gallery Plus is a new listing upgrade designed to help you better showcase your items.

Gallery Plus is just like our current Gallery listing upgrade – just bigger! When you use Gallery Plus, an "Enlarge" icon will display right below your Gallery image on search results pages. A buyer can click or hover over the icon with their mouse, and a larger version of the picture will appear (up to 400x400 pixels, depending on the original size of the picture). This is useful for items where detailed photographs improve the likelihood of a bid or sale.

Gallery Plus costs a flat 0.25p (which includes the regular Gallery fee), and is also included as part of Gallery Featured for free.

Sellers will be able to add the new Gallery Plus upgrade from the Sell Your Item form, or any of eBay’s selling tools such as Turbo Lister. To include Gallery Plus on your existing listings, please use our Revise Your Item form. Regarding any question on this new feature, please post here. We will keep you updated as and when the feature is live on site.

Note: Please note that Gallery Plus is only available for images hosted through eBay Picture Services.

Excellent decision. The fee equal to the present gallery fee. So can we conclude that the normal gallery fee will be waived.

To clarify on the announcement of gallery plus:

If you take gallery plus, you will get gallery free. In other words, by paying 25 p, seller will get benefit of both gallery and gallery plus.

However, If seller opts only for gallery (without opting for gallery plus) he will pay 25 p for the gallery.

Please let me know is there is any other question on your mind.

Hi, Turbo Lister is allowing me to select Gallery Plus even though I have given a link to my server for the image. So what does this mean, will it accept the image for gallery plus or not?

ebay says

Gallery Plus is not available with self-hosted pictures. Click Edit Listing to add pictures using the Basic or Enhanced tab in the Pictures dialogue box. Adding first picture is free.

if TL GIVES YOU THAT OPTION, COULD BE A BUG IN THEIR FANTASTIC LISTING TOOL!


i PERSONALLY FEEL gALLERY pLUS IS of no use.

Crop the image if you can, so that is shows only the best features of your item. Cropping your image requires that you use image editing software. If you don't have access to this software, or do not know how to use this kind of software, your image will still appear in the View by Photo mode. However, you will notice an improvement in the quality of your image if you are able to crop it.

It might be fine to see lots of empty space around your image when it is large, but when it gets reduced to a thumbnail size, that empty space will be wasteful. Thumbnails in the Gallery are 96 pixels wide and 96 pixels tall, so a square crop is ideal. Featured Gallery images are 140 pixels by 140 pixels, and they appear randomly at the top of each Gallery page. As much as you can, try to have images that are as square as possible. For example, long images don't look as good as square images in the Gallery.
