India Post Merits & Demerits

Since I have been using India Post;I have felt it's service pretty good.
Still people don't prefer India Post.Kindly give your opinion.

India post delivers parcels to each and every village,town,where courier companies don't deliver.

Speed post is the most Reliable courier service and they will deliver in nook & corner of India.There are no words like Non Serviceable ares in Speed post.I am using it since 2 years so far good,bye:-)

Merit: Cheap and Best for locations all over India and abroad.

Demerit: If the shipment is misplaced or lost in transit then you cannot claim for the item or shipment unless it is insured. This occurance is 0.5%

It is surely not cheap at all and definitely not the best as there is no guarantee that your parcel will 100% reach the destination.

Tracking info is not updated regularly and is incorrect many times.

No Proof Of Delivery available and no facility of getting POD even by paying for it.

Not all post office accept all parcels, depends very much on their whim and fancy and your personal relation with the postal staff which is not correct as they have no fixed rules.

Yes only thing good is the reach of the postal service.

You should use speedpost as a last resort not as a first choice but that's only my view.

India Post's Speed Post is good for low value items. For high value items you must insist on insurance.

In order to receive a POD you need to attach an AD Card with your parcel at the time of dispatch. The AD Card is Free. You just have to ask for it. Please remember, for Speed Post you will have to use a Speed Post AD Card.
