Sometimes there are system problems in the eBay site. That may have caused such problem for you.
To list the Diamond ring just Click on help in My eBay (or elsewhere) and search "start selling", you will get links for step by step information about listing your item(s). You can also use this link http://pages.ebay.in/help/sell/basics.html
First the description may sound complicated but be sure, its easy. To start with you can use only free options for listing. As you get acquainted, you can use the advanced paid options in future. Also for the time being you can put a realistic starting Price for the item and try the Re.1/- start price system later.
As you will be selling just a single item so there MAY be few visits to your item at start. But do not get disheartened.
When listing it will be better (not compulsory) if you list the followings :
Gold purity -18K/22K...
Gold weight - xx.xx gms
Gold Colour - Yellow / White / Mixed
and details of the Diamond - like
Diamond Cut / Shape - Round / Princess / Baguette / Marquise Pear / Heart ......
Diamond Weight - x.xx carats or xx cents
Diamond Clarity - VVS1/ VVS2/ VS1/ VS2/ SI1/ SI2 ....
Diamond Colour - D / E / F / G/ H/ I/ J/ K ......
etc.
A certificate of authenticity from a Govt. recognised Lab. will add immense value to your listing & item.
Please note that I have just gievn you some options to make a good listing but these are not mandatory. You can put the ring to auction with just and a Price & a Title. Best Regards 🙂
