plannig to buy a SLR camera from US. need clarification for india customs

I am planning to buy a SLR camera from US worth around 900$. in that case will i be charged any customs charge here in india. or will the product be shipped to my home address directly after payment ?

Hello,

While it's a good idea to get good from US - be prepared for 15-25 days to receive goods once paid.

Secondly, ask your seller to ship goods at exact price - not to undervalue them. The customs here are very smart, and will ruin your party.

Duty will be approx Rs. 7-8,000 depending upon mood of officer and actual processing charges.
