Hello,
I won an airplane model kit, from a seller in US. I was bidding on two different kits from the seller and the wanted that I did not bid on one of them as she wanted to sell it to some one who collects rather build and fly.
In order to honour her wishes, I letone of the kits slip, but won the other one.
On asking her to let me know the total including shipping here is the reply I got
"Hello CAPT(RET)Manish, Chandrayan, I awoke this morning to a number of auctions that had sold and started the paperwork. When finished I took the packages to the post office and sent them. I had the kit you were highest bidder on to get a quote on the shipping to Shanthi Colony Anna Nagar Chennai TN 600040 India. I spent some time on the phone with ebay and paypal obtaining your address and advice from them both. At the post office the lady spent over 30 minutes figureing out hot it would have to be sent and how much it would cost. The only way it can go is global express and would cost 191.00. At that point her boss came out and said he had been listening and she needed to add special costs that India required. he figured another 50 to 60 dollars. He also said India would not honor any tracking number or signature required and would tax you heavily and make you pay a tax on the packing material etc. The postmaster says it could cost you 400.00 shipping by the time it is yours, if you ever received it at all. I told him I had printed out a map to the nearest UPS shipping station and it is 50 miles each way, which could be 3 hours driveing time in traffic. He told me he has sent things UPS from a pack and ship store in the next town 20 miles away and that they ship UPS, FedX and USPS but I was going to have to find out for myself what kind of problems I would have there for myself as it is not his place to talk about their business. I drove there and asked them to weigh my package and give me a shipping price to you. They said they would have to unbox the kit and package it in one of their boxes with styrofoam peanuts before they could tell me. I did everything I could to get a price out of them to no avail. When that lady went in the back to package something for someone else a young girl that works there leaned over and wispered in my ear 250. and more then quickly walked away. when the other lady came back I asked what if it gets lost? She said UPS 100.00 insura"
Now, in the recent past I have picked up three model airplane RC kits from different seller and did not have issues in shipping through USPS and did not come more than 60-70 US$
My question is under these circumstances what are my options if the seller does not honour her committments?
