Regarding Buying in EBAY

Hi,

I have planned to purchase a Cisco router through a seller. Iam from India and the seller has to ship it from USA. So i asked them what is the shipping cost for the product. It seems to be too higher and almost equal to the product. So i said them i can purchase it locally(ebay.in) instead ebay.com. Now i received an email from them stating :

Message from the Seller :

I get charged a fee to relist the item. I expect you either to pay the relist fee of $1.25 USD or else I will have to enter an unpaid item dispute in ebay. This will put a negative remark on your account and I don't want to do this, but I can't keep paying to relist the item, either. I would rather resolve this between us. You may pay me via paypal for the relisting fee.

Please help me what to do in this situation.

I think it is wrong on sellers part to charge this way. Its like exploitation and seems to be against ebay policy. I suggest that you report this to ebay using contact us page. The seller in such case has to mutually withdraw for not completing the transaction.

I suggest you to also do live chat with ebay, available on home page of ebay.in

US sellers are known to demand a relisting fees. Its a common practice. Not sure if eBay policy is violated here.

And since your registration is fairly new with eBay, a UPI would put your account at risk

Hi,

Thanks for your suggestions. I even sent an email to ebay. And i received a reply for this :

When a member purchases an item on eBay, they are committed to honor that purchase and follow through with the commitment. All buyers should read the item description completely before buying the item. If a memberis interested in an item, but has questions they should email the sellerand have their questions resolved before a bid is placed or 'Buy It Now'is used to instantly purchase an item. To contact a seller, click on the "Ask seller a question" link located in the Seller Information box of each listing. eBay will send an email to the member and you will receive a copy of the message. Since the listing is over, the best thing to do is contact the seller and explain your situation. Only the seller can release you from your obligation to buy. Please be aware, though, that the seller does have the option of filing for a Final Value Fee credit for this listing. This may generate a Unpaid Item Strike against your account. The seller may also choose to leave negative feedback. Therefore, it's best to try and amicably resolve the situation with your Seller. You may wish to contact the seller directly. Whilst email is generally the easiest way to communicate with other eBay members, in situations like this you may wish to request the member's contact information and give him or her a phone call. eBay encourages open and honest communication, and we believe that most trading issues can be resolved with a simple conversation. To request another member's contact information, please follow the steps below: 1. Click the 'Advanced Search' button at the top right corner of any eBay page. 2. Click the 'find members' button that will appear below the Search button. 3. On the 'Find Members' page, look on the left hand side and click on the link labeled 'Find Contact Information' and follow the instructions there

Regarding Buying in EBAY

Dear skr007-2008,
I would like to add my comments to your post.

As per eBay: "The seller may also choose to leave negative feedback"

Please note that,eBay Sellers can no longer leave Negative/Neutral feedback to any buyer,Even if the buyer do not pay after bidding or buying item.

So,be relax there will not be any Negative/Neutral Feedback ever on your account if you are purely a buyer on eBay
(Buyers are the ultimate King)

But the seller may report Unpaid Item to get Final Value Fee credit for that listing.

As per my opinion,One Unpaid item strike to your eBay account will not be major problem.Your membership will not be cancel just because of one unpaid item strike.

I have many buyers who just bid but never pay.I report such buyers to eBay to get Final Value Fee Credit but never saw such buyers being suspended on eBay.

In the worst scenario if because of Unpaid Strike you account get suspended then there are many buyers who keep on getting back to eBay with new account and eBay never seems to take any action(You must have got the clue).

This is how eBay works.

If you are a buyer,Just enjoy here on eBay!!!

Best of Luck for your future purchase on eBay.

Best Regards,
Deep Agarwal.

Dear skr007-2008,

As said by shree_krishna_gems (post no. 4), Even I would also like to comment on this issue.

eBay doesn't suspend buyers if they get One or Two Unpaid item strikes.

First of all the deal can be canceled under Mutual Process to cancel the transaction and the seller will not be charged as its been canceled. Please refer the below link for more details:

http://pages.ebay.in/help/tp/unpaid-item-process.html

Please reply to Unpaid Item Dispute when the seller opens it and ask him to cancel the deal under mutual agreement.

This will make the seller to get back his fee from eBay and you will be not given strike. The seller can relist the product as well.

This will make good relationship between seller and buyer, you can even exchange positive feedbacks. ---------------

Hi,

1. Did'nt you checked the shipping fee before buying the item ? It is clearly mentioned.

2. The fee is indeed charged by the ebay for listing the items, but as snrama and shree_krishna_gems said that its possible to resolve the issue if both seller and buyer participates.

But if seller is not ready then I guess ebay will charge him and you will get a negative review from the seller. It will be better if you contact ebay itself about this.

Thanks.
