Octroi for Mumbai - buying a camera?

Hi. I'm buying a Nikon DSLR from a seller in Delhi and he's telling me about Octroi charges for Mumbai. I live in Andheri. Never heard of that before. He said it would be around 4.5% Now that's a lot! Is there anyway we can override this?
I read in other forums that only Bluedart pays Octroi, so can it be that if I ask him to ship through someone else, Octroi can be avoided?
Suggestions please.

There is no octroi for Mumbai, it has been abolished 3 yrs back so don't worry you will not be charged anything.

Hi,

There is Octroi in mumbai it's 5.5% + service tax.

Tell seller to send via TNT or DTDC PLUS service , they bypass the octroi , Ohers like Bluedart & AFL will Charge with Octroi.

is there any different octroi structure if product is being shipped from USA..like there is seller on ebay.in who imports things from USA..

i AM in NCR(Haryana) do I need to pay octroi if yes..how much percentage of total cost?
