Regarding the ebay policy for "Responding personally to buyers' questions" :
It is mentioned that the seller can choose to post the question and answer to the listing so all buyers can see it.
It means seller may/may not post it. If he finds that some prospective buyer has exposed him by asking a question, then definitely the seller would not post him. This is highly unethical ebay policy against the buyers & biased towards the sellers. By default, all questions & answers should get displayed on the item page & seller should not have an option to post or not post it. The questions & answers both should get posted on the item page.
