GUYS, I AM SURE THIS TOPIC IS GOOD ENOUGH TO START A WHOLE NEW DEBT. BUT THINKING BOUT THIS, U FEEL ITS SO TRUE. i MEAN WHAT TOOLS DO BUYERS HAVE HERE, OTHER THAN LEAVING NEGATIVE FEEDBACK, OR FILING A DISPUTE.

I MEAN INCASE OF A FRAUD, WHAT CAN A BUYER DO OTHER THAN MULL OVER THE ISSUE AND THE BAD EXPIRIENCE. JUST BECAUSE THE SELLER PAYS COMMISSION TO EBAY, THEY HAVE GIVEN HELL LOTTA RIGHTS AND TOOLS TO SELLER. FOR e.g. A SELLER CAN BLOCK A BIDDER, A SELLER CAN GIVE A STRIKE TO THE BUYER, EVEN IF SELLER IS AT FAULT STILL HE IS ALLOWED TO ANSWER THE NEGATIVE RATING WITH A NEGATIVE.

i HAVE OBSERVED NOW FOR THREE WEEKS, EVEN IF YOU PAY THE SELLER ON TIME AND DO EVERYTHING ACCORDING TO THE SELLER REQUIREMENTS, STILL SELLER DEMANDS A POSITIVE FEEDBACK BEFORE HE CAN GIVE YOU A FEEDBACK. I MEAN AS A SELLER U HAVE BEEN SATISFIED RIGHT?? U GOT UR MONEY ON TIME etc. THEN SHUDNT U GIVE THE BUYER A POSITIVE FEEDBACK WITHOUT DEMANDING A POSITIVE FEEDBACK FIRST?? DOSNT THE BUYER HAVE A RIGHT TO HIS OPINION? ITS ALMOST LIKE SELLER MANUPILATING A FEEDBACK. ATLEAST I HAVE HAD SUCH EXP HERE.

ALSO WHATS THE BIG DEAL BOUT THE BUYER PROTECTION PROGRAM? IT TAKES SEVERAL CLAIMS, MAILS PROOFS, HELL LOTTA COMMUNICATION AND RUNNING AROUND B4 UR PAID A PENNY. N APART FRM THT, U HAVE TO WAIT ATLEAST 30 DAYS B4 ESCALATING D CLAIM. NOW TEL ME GUYS, IF A PERSON HAS MONEY PROBLEMS AND CANT WAIT FOR 30 DAYS, WHT CAN HE DO?
SELLER WILL PROBABLY CLOSE HIS ACCOUNT AND OPEN A NEW ONE. AND START THE CHEATING GAME ALL OVER AGAIN.

LASTLY I FEEL BUYERS SHUD BE GIVEN THESE POWERFUL TOOLS, LIKE THEY CAN BLOCK A SELLER, OR INCASE THEY FEEL THE SELLER IS A FRAUD THEN NOT ALLOW HIM TO LEAVE U A NEGATIVE FEEDBACK IN TURN. EVEN GIVE THE SELLER A STRIKE FOR NOT GIVING U THE ITEM ON TIME, OR IF FAIL TO DEIVER AN ITEM. HMMM SEEMS SELLERS HERE HAVE ALL THE PRIVILEDGES AND NOT THE BUYERS.

WELL LETS SEE IF THE BUYERS GET TOGETHER, MAYB SUMTHIN CAN BE DONE BOUT THIS ISSUE. TILL THEN ADIOS AMIGOS.

Its not true that ebay is more on seller side then buyer.

as seller has to maintain reputation to get order on ebay ,so its unfair to say that ebay is favoring sellers.

infect ebay is very strict against seller even power sellers for any claim or issue , seller has to maintain the good records to remain on ebay , the suspension is very near if he does any wrong things on ebay.

Feedback is main issue for any seller , many sellers avoid feedback post before buyer feedback , coz feedback threat is very bad issue on ebay.in.

ebay has good tool for buyers , buyer can claim for "item not received " , " item not as describe " , its good tools for buyers for his protection , the purchase protection claim is also for buyers, so buyer are more & more secure then sellers.

we accept that due to some bad sellers activities , good & genuine sellers suffer. the bad experiance lead to bad buying experaince on ebay , it will give loss to other sellers.

although now adays ebay has taken lots of action against bad sellers & now we think that 99% of ebay purchase is safe & secure.

buyers & sellers both are backbones of ebay , so as per our experiance both are equally treated on ebay.

As far as claim is concern it is a investigation process like insurance so it may takes time , but at the end u get your refund its main thing in any claim.

we hope that safe & secure platform lead to good & enjoyable shopping experience on ebay.

Thanks for posting this. This is always a HOT topic in eBay. Who is the King ? "Buyers" or "Sellers".

If you ask a buyer he will say "Sellers".

If you ask a seller he will say "Buyers".

Your ID says you are new buyer. I will tell you some secrets of successful buying.

1. Check seller feedbacks.

2. If you are buying a item less than Rs.500, you can trust most sellers having feedback, or who offers right price as per market value.

3. If you feel the promise and price is lower than normal don't buy. Recently a Harry Potter magician is blocked, he promised the book lower than first day store price and same day delivery. There were 36 buyers went cheated. One should see how anyone can deliver on the same day and lower price than shop ?. It is not possible, because people stand in queue from midnight and they make bookings 3 months in advance and buy.

4. Good things are not sold for so cheap. There is a value for each item in the market, if some one selling lower than that, then there is a trick.

5. Never bid expensive items sold for half price. For example there is a price for Nokia models. The price variation is 3-5% between sellers. If it is lower, then there is a trick. Even MP3 cases are same.

6. You need to have payment proof to claim your money ? This this way you run a shop, everyday 100's of people come in and look and buy. You cannot remember everyone. So you give bill to them as an authority for the purchase. If they say they bought the item from your shop and ask for refund,what do u ask first ? Bill right ? eBay same, they need payment proof. Also they need time to investigate your case. eBay is a system, they have fair rules to judge genuine cases. Also they need to contact sellers to know status.

7. Next time look for PowerSeller who values to eBay principles and take care the buyers.

8. Feedback is like knife, should be used when you are really helpless. When you feel you are really cheated by seller you use it. There may be 100 reason a seller's mail is delayed. Open dispute and wait for his response, or call him to his mobile if given. Think about this case, if a seller is injured seriously and in hospital. You cannot expect a mail from him. Try to contact him, contact eBay, open dispute and give him 1 week time for reply.

9. Buyers think block bad sellers, Seller also think same way block bad buyers. Both side there may be 2-3% cases. I have successfully sold more than 1000 items, so far i faced 3 bad cases. I am still here to sell to another 997 good customers. I will be here for them.


One thing you have to remember is eBay is the best online buying system in the world.

I have done both selling and buying almost equally throโ€™ ebay. I canโ€™t say that ebay is too unfavorable to buyers; But nevertheless it looks to me that the scale is slightly tilted in favour of Sellers!

- As a seller I find that some new-to-ebay buyers bid/ order for an item without knowing fully about the โ€œtotal costโ€, โ€œPaisapayโ€, and about the rule: โ€œOnce opted to buy, you are committed to buyโ€. If you chase them after their Order, they become non-communicative! To mutually agree for Order cancellation and to get ebayโ€™s commission credit, and to relist the item, it takes minimum 20 days. That way, a seller is in no way in a better position.

- As a Buyer, I recently encountered a fraudulent Seller. I made a very quick complaint, warned ebay well in advance about a likely fraud. But ebayโ€™s reaction was more procedural. I gave a negative rating to the seller; There were a few more who got cheated like me. But before negative ratings could accumulate, the Seller was absconding- (โ€œNo longer a registered sellerโ€). Ebay, other than general procedural acknowledgement to my complaint, did not inform me anything about WHAT SPECIFIC ACTION THEY TOOK ON THE SELLER, WHETHER THEY COULD COMMUNICATE WITH THE SELLER AT ALL, WHETHER ANY VERIFICATION WAS DONE. I sought for refund from Paisapay. It is going on as per the standard and slow procedure of ebay. I even received Phone call from ebay on this matter, but the person who talked to me only said โ€œthings are taking their due courseโ€ โ€“ but no feedback about any specific action taken on the seller! The ebay person did not even know that the seller has absconded from the site- thus it was just โ€œgoing throโ€™ the procedureโ€ โ€“ like a Government Office!

Thatโ€™s why I say, ebay is slightly tilted in favour of seller.

I wish ebay should share with the Buyer who gets cheated, the information on what specific action they have taken on a specific complaint. This will improve buyerโ€™s confidence.

You are as usual clear and practical.

As U know well, I was one of the many to get cheated in Harry Potter case! But I jumped in knowing well about the Paisapay protection available to me. (I took the risk because my 17 year old son's pestering was so strong and all my logical explanations that it could be a fraud failed to convince his overenthusism!).

Anyway, I am of the feeling that ebay could have been more vigilent, and more communicative since I made the Warning Signals quite in advance.

THERE MUST 1000S OF STORIES HOW BUYERS GOT CHEATED HERE RIGHT?? MY QUESTION IS WHAT DOES A SELLER GOT TO LOSE?? I MEAN A BUYER AFTER BUYING AN ITEM LOSES HIS MONEY, HIS PEACE OF MIND. THE BUYER RUNS FROM PILLAR TO POST CLAIMING MONEY BLAH BLAH, SPENIDNG SLEPLESS NIGHTS BOUT IT. IMAGINE A BUYER HAS BEEN CHEATED OF RS.3,00,000. THT BUYER PROBABLY WILL BE IN A MENTAL HOSPITAL.

NOW IMAGINE A SELLER WAS CHEATED!! ! 10 BUYERS BOUGHT 10 ITEMS AND HAVNT PAID HIM. A SELLER IN THIS CASE HAVE TO WAIT AND FINALLY GIVE THEM STRIKES, RECEIVE NEGATIVE FEEDBACK, AND GIVE NEGATIVE FEEDBACK. SELLERS STILL CAN BLOCK FAKE BIDDDERS WITH 0 RATINGS AND 2 STRIKES. AND SELLER IS PROTECTED AGAINST BEING CHEATED.

NOW BUYERS TURN!! CAN A BUYER PROTECT HIMESELF AGAINST A SELLER WHO IS SELLING STUFF AT A REALLY GOOD RATE, BUT HIS ADDRESS ISNT EVEN REGISTERED ON EBAY?? EBAY ACTUALLY ALLOWS SELLERS TO SELL STUFF WITOUT EVEN NOTING THEIR ADDRESS?? ISNT THT SO FRIGGIN BIASED??

MY FINAL QUESTION WAS WHAT DO U THINK SHUD BE BUYER TOOLS??? HOW CAN WE PROTECT OURSELVES FROM THE SELLERS WHO CHEAT AND THEN LIST AGAIN WITH ANOTHER ID??? GIMME REPS GUYS. GOD BLESS

Can ebay catagorically state what steps they take to check the seller's genuineness (Phone number/ Address Verification of the Seller etc) before allowing them to sell?

Do they have any specific feedback procedure to inform a cheated buyer on the action they have taken?

You are obsolutely right. Even though you pay-ontime, if the seller cheats, you get your refund after several months. You are dissatisfied, but the seller goes happy.

Why can't ebay allow the sellers to registerd based on unique proof's, so that even if he cheats, he can be arrested?

Hello,

It boils down to seller verification. ebaY should start verification of sellers both old and new.

Methods of verification can be Credit Card.

There is the most simplest form of verification. All other ebay sites do it routinely. Even PayPal needs CC verification if a buyer wants to buy a product over $100.

So why not verify any seller who says lists product (s) above Rs.5000/-.

Btw, OP why are you writing in all caps? It is akin to shouting in real world and very hard on the eyes.

As for your question why sellers do not leave feedback before a buyer does:

1) A buyer leaved negative feedback for hazaar non genuine reasons and the only tool in the hand of a seller when he gets non - genuine feedback is reprisal.

As a seller I have received tons of negative feedback and I know that all of it is non genuine. It is either due to buyer have different expactation from a product or online shopping as whole from what the seller / online shopping offers.

Buyer are known to give negative ratings if:

1) Seller does not reply to emails within 4 hours.

2) Product not reaching then within 2 days of sending DD without even verifying if the seller has even received the DD.

3) Buyer does not know how to use a product.

4) Buyer expects the product to be different from what the seller has described, this is called buyer remorse.

and a thousand more reasons which are equally non genuine.

As a seller I will only consider a sale final when the buyer says he is satisfied with his purchase which on ebay does by giving the seller a positive rating. Till the time the buyer says he is satisfied (gives a positive), I as a seller will beleive there are issues which need to be resolved before I can close the sale by giving the buyer a positive.

Only making payment on times does not make a good buyer. Even after making a payment the buyer may have hazaar unjustified demands which a seller needs to take into consideration before rating the buyer.

Since the OP is not a registered user, it seems that he has not been fair with this posting. It seems that he has more often not paid for what he has purchased or he has paid those purcahses with fraudulent means. Only ebay can say which is true or the OP when his suspension is revoked.
