An online auction site like e-bay is used to buy and sell products .It just a transaction platform between seller and buyers of products and services. As a mediator, they donโt care about quality of product .Whether it is original or fake. They just focus more on transmitting products to users without any damages.SO better to go with local market. You can find good deals over there.

This is a wonderful topic and age old question for online ecommerce stores.
Anytime, there is a branded product for a discounted price, you have to have your antenna alerted ๐
The way to deal with this depends on the product type and how you perceive it.
The best way to approach this is to ask the seller about it. If the seller is upfront and is importing from another place and selling it, you have to make a call. Almost in all cases, it is hard to get unusual discounted prices on branded items just because the wholesaler claims he/she deals with them on bulk.
The product type and its perceived functionality to you matters in making a judgement call. If it is a mobile phone or laptop or something where performance matters a lot, keep away from such items. If it is an item where functionality doesnt vary much, you may choose to go ahead. Eg, a friend of mine did not mind buying 'RayBan' sunglasses for a cheap price in thailand knowing fully well it is fake. Reason being it still served the purpose of sunglasses and he liked to show off the brand name to others ๐
This is the same reason why most of Indians like to buy fake branded jeans (as long as their functionality doesnt suffer) and there is nothing wrong with that as you long as you know that's what you want.
However, if a seller is trying to pass a fake item as branded, that is still a fraud and you need to stay away from such items if you are looking for a branded product.
Good luck!
