Dear Freinds!Beware of Fraud related to selling of higher memory MP3 Players. I recently bought a 2 GB MP3 Player (actually, a 512 MB) from "ashaambe" - no longer a registered seller on ebay. Due to its internal problem, I had to format the piece (the sellers will advice you not to format after you have paid for it). After formating, it would not go above 497 MB. I suspected some fraud and opened the piece to find a 512 MB Hynix chip inside.
I found on the net that these sellers actually do some fraudulent programming due to which the piece will show higher memory initially.So I am now stuck up with a one-fourth memory size mp3 player instead of the one I paid for.
And, you would not believe what followed later. The seller offered to replace the piece by paying Rs.500 to Rs.900 more (with the same 2 GB capacity). They believe in making continuous fools of us.
Moral: Always ask the seller before hand: What is the capacity of the Chip inside and check the same upon reciept.Way of checking: As 1 Byte = 8 Bits;
See Between the numbers written on Chip:
"2G" - 2 GigaBits - 256 MB
"4G" - 4 GigaBits - 512 MB
"8G" - 8 GigaBits - 1024 MB (1 GB)
