And in case if the the seller/shipper mentioned VALUE of the item lower than the actual then U may receive a letter by saying to sub-mitt the proof of payment(pay pal, credit card) and the catalog details of the package(if they find the item value is higher). U will be in big trouble if U told the seller to decrease the Value of the item in invoice than U paid to him.
Getting USED item from abroad is not permitted or U have to pay 135% of duties/taxes on the actual price of the item. Sometime the USED items may get pass through checks but not all times.
If the item is mentioned GIFT, but seller/shipper should mention the VALUE of the item, then the duties levied in case if the value reaches more than 10000Rs. In this case every GIFT package will be opened to count the value according to Indian prices.
Always remember that if U purchasing/getting anything from abroad then U need to be ready to get the item with/without taxes even if the item costs below 10000Rs. The reason is the customs guys count the taxes on the basis of "Indian prices" of that particular item.
So, there is no guarantee that why/what they gonna do how much they gonna charge with Ur package, sometimes U may have to get them personally to clear package(U need to approach brokers in this case). Just like all other Indian departments the customs is also mess, so I don't recommend anything to purchase from abroad, if U want to then U need to have extra cash to pay the duties or U will lost both purchased money & item.
Hope U get it
