Want to Ship a 200 Grm item to US?

Which is the best service?
Private Courier companies and if yes then which are good and traceable.

Or

INDIA POST and if yes then which service should i go for?
Registered Airmail! or SAL! or SpeedPost! or Something else

Tell me the charges as well if anyone have experience of shipment in US.

Also let me know how to pack the item (wallet in this case) and how to avoid any custom duty or taxes.

I appreciate your each and every reply to this thread.

Speed Post is best and trackable if you want to go for India Post.

Else courier services are fast and more reliable.

in my opinion use air mail from India post, it is reliable and will reach USA within 10-12 days, and has got very good prices.

For airmail the packet has to be packed in cloth and sealed.No custom duty will be levied in small packet.

If your profit is low, use India Post Registered Airmail.

If it is high, use Speed Post service of India Post

It will take about 10 to 20 days to reach USA. The variation is due to the customs clearance.

Thanks for your advise eBayers. Still I am not satisfied with the service provided by INDIA POST. They are not responsible for anything. I am looking forward for the private courier company now. Once i get on roll with few selling i will try INDIA POST. Don't want to take a risk in beginning. Hows DTDC to ship the same mentioned parcel to US?

You can use India Postal Airmail with reasonable rates.Transit time can be 2 weeks.Packing should be in cloth cover stitched and sealed with wax.Shipment wont be traceable on web until it reaches US.Alternatively you can use speed post with tracking facility.You can declare it as gift for not being charged custom duty.It can help sometimes. Hi eBayers,

I went to POST and asked to ship my parcel to the person at the counter. SURPRISINGLY she told me that i should use private courier service. I asked WHY?
She replied - my item is so small and it will get damage between different parcels upto 5 kg.
Finally, i send courier through DTDC. They charged me 650. The parcel will reach in 8 days.

Any idea what do i need to do with this POST employees?

So disappointed.
