Ya, Even I read that post from Biren, But am not still sure. If it is actually only 5% total including paisapay charge + Courier + COD charge its a deal. It just increases paisapay charge by 1% and covers the shipping charge as well. That will hardly 50 Rs for shipping a product worth 5000 Rs.

Only issue is sellers have to wait for 15- 30 days for payment.

@ amitava123gems:

If you read the entire post, you could easily catch the answer on combined shipping.

Nevertheless, we will clarify you with the same example/case you have given.

If a buyer purchases 10 items from you each worth Rs.100. The total payable amount would be Rs.1000 (100x10). Your order will be clubbed under single PaisaPay ID (as it is a combined purchase from a single buyer).

Now you have to put all the above 10 items in one package and you need to pay only 5% (or Rs.125) of Rs.1000 which is Rs.125 in your case. So you will receive Rs.875 from PaisaPay.

@ linusstudios:

atthershabbir is right.

There is no extra than the 5% charge.

Your conception is right that the Payment gateway charges cannot be as cheap as this (refer your post# 76). But if you think deeply, this is actually not as same as Online PaisaPay payments.

In Online PaisaPay payment, buyer pays using his/her Card and there is a Bank charge (Payment Gateway Cost) involved in collecting the payment from the Card user to PaisaPay which is resulting in PaisaPay collecting 4% from the Seller.

In PaisaPay COD case, the buyer makes the payment in 'Cash' and it is the Courier company who is involved (and not Bank) in collecting the Cash, reconcile and send it to PaisaPay where there are no Bank charges involved from the Buyer-to-PaisaPay gateway.

This is what makes 5% or Rs.125 possible.

Hi. Sorry I was out of touch for about past two weeks. This is a useful service being started by eBay and will certainly boost sales. Only, it needs to be managed effectively. Indian buyers and sellers need this kind of service.

The only answer I couldn't find on the post is regarding management of tax and octroi matters. The questions that arise are:

1. On whose invoice will PP COD ship the parcel? How much tax needs to be charged? In case of any dispute arising how will this be handled?

2. Will PP COD ship parcels from individuals/unregistered dealers without invoice?

3. Will the service be available for octroi zones? Who will be responsible for payment and collection of octroi?

4. In an RTO case from within the octroi zone who will absorb the octroi charges already paid?

These are important legal matters and need to be taken care of for smooth functioning of the system.

Good day.

Sorry. I've one more question.

Many courier companies do not ship jewelry. Will the assigned courier companies ship gold plated/gold polish and silver jewelry.

Hi All,

Back on the boards to clarify queries on PaisaPay COD

@ saapi

Courier companies do not allow buyers any access to the package without receiving payment for the same.

However, if the buyer is not available, the courier company will make 3 attempts to reach out & deliver the item & the item will be handed over to the buyer only after payment is received

Hi mobile-phones-etc

As you may be knowing, we believe most "People are Good"

Sellers doing something like you mentioned in your example is possible, but rare. We would not want to restrict business due to some bad apples. We would rather deal with unscrupulous elements separately without troubling everyone else.

However, in any genuine damage, I will have to repeat what I have said earlier. Courier companies have limited liabilities towards lost or damage in transit. On a case-to-case basis, eBay will attempt to resolve claims for loss /damage in transit between the seller and the concerned courier company

Hi amitava123gems,

We are using only reputed courier companies for PaisaPay COD & they will come to the seller's office to pick up the PaisaPay COD shipments.

There could be some items which could be not be shipped without some documentation from the seller. We shall put up a list of such items soon.

Watch this space.
