Hi,

Knowing an item whether it is New, Used, Refurbished, Mint condition is critical to buyers. Providing an accurate item condition helps in generating better confidence among buyers & greater satisfaction with the transaction leading to better user experience for both buyers & sellers.

Taking into account responses from buyers & sellers, we now introduce more descriptive & detailed item conditions on eBay.in. The terms may vary by category—for example, conditions for mobile phones and cameras include “New”, “Used” and “Refurbished” whereas the conditions for Toys, Games & Baby may include “New”, “New with Defects”, “Used” and “ For parts or not working”. Find a complete list of these Terms and Definitions in eBay’s Help section.

Please start using the new item condition values on eBay.in at the earliest; these will not just make your product easily understandable by the buyer but will also help you in detailing its specifications.

From August 16th onwards, specifying item condition with new values while listing or re-listing items on site will become mandatory.

Sellers listing in following categories will need to make changes in their listings:

1. Mobiles Phones, Mobile Accessories, Cameras & Optics, Camera Accessories, Laptops & Desktops, Comput...

2. Apparel & Accessories, Home Décor & Furnishings

3. Fitness & Sports, Health, Perfume & Personal Care, Kitchen & Home Appliances, Musical Instruments, T...

4. Books & Magazines

5. Cars & Bikes & CV

Sellers listing in the following categories need not make any changes to their listings. Item condisiton in lisitngs in following categories / subcategories will be automatically “mapped” to the new ones, and you will not need to update the item condition. These categories are: Coins & Notes, Collectibles, Jewellery, Memory Cards, Pen Drives & HDD, Movies & Music, Stamps, Video & Computer Games, Software (under Laptops & Computer Peripherals) and Car Accessories & Parts (under Cars & Bikes)

Check out the eBay Quick Tip Video on how to apply new item conditions. For more questions, please feel free to contact our customer service desk or post on this thread.

New Item Conditions on eBay. in – Now more descriptive and informative!

We have few questions for eBay to answer concerning this announcement i.e.

1. As we now understand from the text of above announcement and our subsequent talks with eBay customer care that we all have to either edit and revise all of our listings for item condition on or before 16.8.2010 or they will be restricted thereafter for listing and we can only relist them after editing each listing individually. Are we correct?

2. How can we bulk edit the item condition of our listing as we could not find any such feature in ebay.in and turbo lister? (We tried updating the turbo lister also and still the item condition update feature under detail section on turbo section is not highlighted).

3. We tried sending mail to our account manager in this regard but his response it still awaited. Also, the customer care promised to give us a call in this regard two days ago but the same call is still awaited. We would like to know that is there a way to edit the item condition in bulk or ebay wants all its sellers to edit all of their listings individually?

An early reply is awaited.

@tcc.in...

In your Selling Manager page click on Active Listings....then select the listings you want to edit....the new page that opens is the new bulk edit page....there you will find item Condition box....you can directly on click on it and make changes....after editing click Save....if Condition box is not showing then click on Customise....and turn the option on....make changes to your listings....click save.

The edit tool even now is too primitive with very few options, ebay has promised to add more. Hope this helps you.

@sapana....

A few things which have been overlooked by ebay:-

1.Consumer Electronics > Batteries & Chargers....here there are no sub-options at all, please incorporate more sub-options in this vital category.

2.Cameras & Optics > Camera, Camcorder Accessories > AA, AAA & Other Batteries....It is surprising that in this category Nikon is missing whereas Uniross and Camelion have found a mention. Please include Nikon and Eneloop in the list.

3.Cameras & Optics > Camera, Camcorder Accessories > AA, AAA & Other Batteries....All cameras nowadays are using Ni-MH batteries as default and again surprisingly there is no mention of Rechargeable or Ni-MH batteries in this category. Please include a sub category called "Rechargeable Batteries" and the options should include Ni-Cad(Nickel Cadmium) and Ni-MH(Nickel Metal Hydride) batteries and the sub-options of each can be the default popular brands as mentioned above.

Hope you find this useful and the changes are incorporated ASAP.

@rajelectroniks...

We were seeing old bulk update panel in our ebay.in

When we clicked on new update feature then the new GUI interface loaded automatically every time and it did the job.

Thanks for your help.

@tcc.in...

Nice to know that you got it, initially some sellers were invited by ebay to try out the new bulk listing feature, I was one of the sellers but now I think you can either opt in or opt of the new feature I believe.
