SBI::an alternative to ICICI

Hi,
State Bank has developed a system,they call core banking.This gives you the benefit of operating from anywhere in India.This is very useful for transferring cash.Unlike ICICI they dont deduct Rs.168..You get the full amount transferred to your a/c.
I asked a buyer to deposit Rs.55 in Hyderabad.It showed up in my account about 10 days later.It is very slow.But I am satisfied with State Bank.They dont do nakhara like the ICICI,deducting money from a/c at false pretext,or pushing unasked for loans.ICICI also misbehaves with clients through their recovery agents.I am not at all in favour of ICICI.Only its money transfer by chek is fast.I feel scared about them.My money they are keeping and making a fool of me at their sweet will.
State Bank also has swift code facility.
Only I pray to God that SBI work little bit faster.

Hi Amitava,

Even I have faced few issues with the ICICI Bank, Still it's a good bank.

I normally use Canara Bank, I really love their service. They also introduced the Core Banking.

eBay should accept payments through all debit cards as most of the people use SBI (all state banks), Canara Bank, Corparation Bank. ---------------

Government Banks are slow at work but economical. I have subscribed for NetBanking of SBI on 10th July but still I am not able to activate my account. I went 3 times to my SBI Branch but still the login status says it is under process.

Similarly, Speed Post (EMS) for foreign parcels are too cheaper than private courier companies but the only thing is it delivers a bit late.

It is surprising to see somethings work:: like speedpost tracking,like fgn regd airmail,fgn regd bookpost airmail etc etc.In fact we in India got certain advantages,the cheapness of all those.This SBI thing is something like that.Canara bank has its reputation from the very begining.
In fact I wanted to express my surprise.SBI got to speedup things to make it work really.

It's nice to be able to praise at least some things run by the government. I've been using Speed Post for years, and SBI core banking ever since they started it. They both work fine and are economical.

My own experience with SBI core banking is that it's lightning fast. Two of my children are studying in different cities, both very far from my own. Anything I deposit into their SBI accounts is available to them within hours. It may even be only minutes, but there is really no way to time it.

Even if a buyer does not want to deposit payment into a seller's SBI core banking account at his side, he can send a cheque if he has an SBI account. It saves the time and expense of having a bank draft made, and the seller can withdraw cash with the cheque immediately in his own city. No delay, no clearance charge. For this, the sender's SBI account must be a core banking account, and there must be a core banking branch in the seller's city. The seller does not even have to have an SBI account. I believe all major SBI branches now have core banking facility.

I use only Speed Post to send out anything. It takes 2-4 days to reach anywhere in India, and it costs only Rs.25 to send a letter by SP. I ask all my eBay purchases to be sent by Speed Post as it is faster than private couriers, and usually cheaper. As I live in a remote part of the country, I don't know if SP is faster than pvt couriers between major cities.

On a side note, I had a problem paying for a recent purchase with an SBI core banking cheque, but this was entirely due to the seller's ignorance, and not at all SBI's fault. The story is in the thread "Seller's inexperience causing problems".

Hi friends,
Ever since speedpost charges were reduced,I am using this for almost all my shippings.There are 2 simple reasons.They dont ask anything. and They will ship it anywhere inside India as long as there is a pincode.
About SBI,I believe,the sellers have to pick up courage to use that.Once the buyer pays up,it has to be shipped fast.I am yet to learn their phone banking.They must be having a similar system.
But thanx for this bit of useful information.I may be using this in the coming days.SBI means business.Nothing else.

Dear sellers,

BI is no ware near the icici bank , in terms of speed , professionalism , service , reply .

nothing is free in world .

we have corparate banking a/c with icici bank from lat 3 year , we are very much happy with it , the service level & speed is very good .

sbi or canara bank is good for offline banking , but our experience says HDFC & icici are perfect for any growing business.

See moment a bank uses grimmics you can be rest assured that they are hell bent upon cheating you....like bank transactions being carried out by Good looking girls who will never give you the opportunity to be your girlfriends..but you are still happy looking at the carrot...faster transaction ,airconditioned halls... this banking and that banking ...why are you 'katoing a charlie of yourself??'...I am talking about ICICI bank...They will hit you so badly by their goon party that you can do photomorphing of those good looking Gees

On the contrary come to SBI...Old matured hats...Even if they are slow ..but at least LAXMI is there with you and is earning more interest..Dont forget the days when not too long time back you were still dependent on Demand drafts and moneyorders...Happiness was then too...and you really dont want to buy so much so fast....Do you????
