Hi Sapana / Community Team

Thank you for giving me a chance to help users on the board.

Although i have been on eBay/Baazee for the last 2+ years, there is so much to learn every day. eBay is huge and with a lot of features. I am constantly learning through the community boards. What ever i would be sharing is what i have taken from other users - more experienced and also less experienced than me.

This is a forum where all are welcome to share their views, give suggestions and help anyone who is willing to be helped.

I would be here for a week and will be checking the posts at least once every day and will try to answer your concerns in the best possible way i can.

I am sure that by the end of one week we all would have learnt something from each other.

Best wishes
Abhishek Agarwal

Dear Abhishek,

You have been a Member since: 26-Oct-2001.

That is, more than 4 years now.

I thought that you have accumulated around 2800 unique points in 4 years. But on reviewing your profile, I found that you got your first feedback on 06-Dec-2003.
This shows that you were totally inactive for the first 2 years.

Thats really a great achievement ....I mean getting around 2800 points in just 2 years.

Abhishek, I want to know that ....since you have spent 1 year in Baazee ERA and almost 1 year in ebay.......

Why is that you could manage only 800-900 points in ebay where as you had a score of around 2000 when Baazee was taken over by ebay ?

Is ebay lacking somewhere ?

I had just started selling in feburary 2005 and do remember your approximate score. I used to pronounce your ID as ....Therdee....but I have come to know that its not therdee....but the correct pronunciation is ....The third eye.

Hi Umang,

As usual, you can really delve deep into records and get out information !

Yes, you are right. The feedback i received during Baazee era was more than what i have received on ebay, although the time span is almost the same (around 1 Year each).

You see, when i started selling online, Baazee was a 5 year old really well-known brand. People knew about it. In fact they were the pioneers of B2C ecommerce in India. Buyers were comfortable buying on this site. Baazee did not have too many features and hence it was very easy to buy and sell. So that gave us lots of sales and lots of ratings.

Things have changed since then. eBay is a Giant. With 100s of useful features that were not there on Baazee. There was a slight learning curve for all of us before we could get used to the eBay environment.

Many sellers who were serious about online selling survived. Others fizzled out. Similarly, many buyers from Baazee days learned the eBay buying process and continued buying. We humans generally loathe change and avoid new things! So many buyers went into hibernation because they found eBay to be new and uncomfortable.

So when eBay took over Baazee, there was a drop in sales for all sellers. And hence drop in ratings. Now after less than a year, we can see the old buyers waking up from their hibernation! Sales (and hence ratings) are constantly increasing.

So, to answer your question, there is no lacuna in eBay. eBay is new, and in the process of growing and maturing. And its growing fast!

I am very positive that in the next 2 Years, eBay would achieve the same brand recognition that took Baazee 5 years to achieve. Also, i feel in the next 2 years, eBay sales would multiply manifold, becauase India is fast waking upto the ecommerce reality.

Hello,
Could you please answer following of my queries?
1) How to economically transport / ship a single piece of a high volume item like a sofa set all over india and internationally also?
2)Why the multiple feedbacks given by one user are counted as one score only?
Your help will be much appreciated.

Parag

Hi mahajanmarket

1. The best way to economically transport heavy items like sofa sets is by Road. There are several transport companies that will transport it for you @ Rs.2-3 per Kg. The downside is that it will take several days (Maybe 10-15 days) to deliver.

If the buyer is ok with the price, another option is to deliver it by train. All courier companies offer this facility. They will charge you Rs.30-40 / Kg.

For shipping it internationally you will have to get in touch with DHL, Fedex, Speed Post, UPS or any such companies that ship internationally. Shipping such volume outside india will be really expensive.

2. This is a very good question. This is done so that sellers do not manipulate feedbacks. Many unscruplous sellers create false ids and give ratings to themselves. By unique ratings, only one rating per buyer is counted. This eliminates any fraud practices by such sellers.

If you go to the details of the buyers ratings, you will find that his total ratings are also displayed along with the unique ratings. But only unique ratings are flashed against his ID because that shows how many unique buyers he has catered to.

Abhishek

Hi,
Thanks thethirdi for your reply.
1. Could you please list a few leading national transporters who ship by road at a price of Rs.4-5 / kg for high volume items? and also the transporters who ship by railway?
2. How to contact the ebay customer support? I tried many times via contact us link but in vain. Actually 13 members have left a positive feedback for me still my feedback score is 12! What can be the problem?
Thanks,
Regards,
Parag

Hi Poppy

If the buyer is willing to pay you well for shipping to Hungary, you can opt for Overnite couriers, DHL, DTDC, First Flight.
For Hungary they should charge you somewhere around 1000-1200 for the first 500gms.

If you want cheaper rates, you can opt for Speed Post. They would charge you around Rs.800-1000 for 1st 500 gms.

If you want still cheaper rates, you can send your parcel through Registered Post. They will deliver your parcel within Rs.300 ! But there is no guarantee as to when it is going to be delivered ! I have tried Regd Post for some parcels to australia, us and uk, and they have been delivered within 10 days.

If you want safety, i feel you should use any of the top courier companies that i mentioned in the first paragraph

Abhishek
