Hi Umang,
As usual, you can really delve deep into records and get out information !
Yes, you are right. The feedback i received during Baazee era was more than what i have received on ebay, although the time span is almost the same (around 1 Year each).
You see, when i started selling online, Baazee was a 5 year old really well-known brand. People knew about it. In fact they were the pioneers of B2C ecommerce in India. Buyers were comfortable buying on this site. Baazee did not have too many features and hence it was very easy to buy and sell. So that gave us lots of sales and lots of ratings.
Things have changed since then. eBay is a Giant. With 100s of useful features that were not there on Baazee. There was a slight learning curve for all of us before we could get used to the eBay environment.
Many sellers who were serious about online selling survived. Others fizzled out. Similarly, many buyers from Baazee days learned the eBay buying process and continued buying. We humans generally loathe change and avoid new things! So many buyers went into hibernation because they found eBay to be new and uncomfortable.
So when eBay took over Baazee, there was a drop in sales for all sellers. And hence drop in ratings. Now after less than a year, we can see the old buyers waking up from their hibernation! Sales (and hence ratings) are constantly increasing.
So, to answer your question, there is no lacuna in eBay. eBay is new, and in the process of growing and maturing. And its growing fast!
I am very positive that in the next 2 Years, eBay would achieve the same brand recognition that took Baazee 5 years to achieve. Also, i feel in the next 2 years, eBay sales would multiply manifold, becauase India is fast waking upto the ecommerce reality.
Regards
Abhishek
