I URGENTLY REQUIRE ONE OR A FEW TELEPHONE NUMBERS OF SOME PROFESSIONAL PACKERS,IN KOLKATA AS I HAVE TO DESPATCH A TERRACOTTA ITEM - WHICH IS EXTREMEMLY BRITTLE, & I CANT, LIKEANY SELLER AFFORD A NEGETIVE FEEDBACK FROM THE BUYER. CAN ANYONE FROM THE CITY OF KOLKATA, DOING eBay HELP ME PLEASE??
THERE HAS BEEN A DEATH IN MY FAMILY THIS MORNING,THUS, I CAN TRY FROM ANYONE'S REPLY TO THIS, AROUND 5 p.m.IN THE EVENING.

Hi,

Just go to the GPO. On the South side balcony there are a few packing agents. The one on the East most table there is Madhab. He is the best over there. Just give him the item and pay the fees. He will arrange everything. They are likely to take Rs.60-100 for packing and send those by Registered Post / SpeedPost ( separate charges ). .

sorry to revert late. am thankful to, you as i often, for some of my items, require professional packing.

but do they weigh the item also? this is important, coz, i guess,the fees payable to Madhab, (in case not available) or, anyone else, will depend on that, & i can accordingly, be ready with required cash to be paid.

also, cant the same be done from anywhere in South Kolkata, e.g. Deshapriya Park P.O., as it is convinient & near to where i stay.

Dont know anyone of this kind in South Kolkata. These packers of GPO definitely weigh the parcels. There are 5-6 packers in the South balcony of GPO but most of them are not experienced and often do bad jobs. Madhab is the best and another one is also good. btw, Madhab charges the highest fees among all and do not negotiate much. But he is truly professional and a very good, gentle, honest and educated person. He is better informed about Post Office rules than many employees of GPO who operates the Registration and SpeedPost counters. After packing you have to register your parcel at those counters of GPO. .

Hi Swarup,
That boy is not best.Some older packers do a much better job.Have you ever seen any European shipper hiring him??No,because they know what is what.
Also I do much better packing.But I am not able to pack for others.
Also that boy charges like anything.The old man beside would charge may be 70% less.
Pinku of FPO will charge may be 25% of what this boy takes.
