Couriers not accepting electronic items like watches, cameras

Dear Sir

I am in Chennai. The local couriers are refusing to take electronic items like watches, cameras for shipping due to Airport rules and regulations. In view of this I am unable to list them in eBay. Please tell me a way out. How other ebay members are able to ship such goods? Can you mention the names of a few couriers stationed at Chennai who can accept my items without any problem?

I have listed relisted some items but still not sold in ebay and thus incurred loss. I have paid listing charges to ebay for these things without getting the items sold. When this the case, if I go on purchasing items and listing and the without any assurance of items sold, my items will get piled up, my funds locked up with no profit at all. What is the remedy for this? When I am not able to discuss about this with some of the ebay members in person, I am totally in dark. How can I progress or improve my business? Why do not you let me talk to some ebay members in my city so that I can get some of thise doubts clarified?

If couriers are not accepting parcels for air, you may want to explore the land route for delivery. The only hiccup is that this is a time consuming process.

On improving your eBay business - Before listing an item, do a through search to understand the demand for the item. You can do so with completed listing search. (Click on advanced search, type item name, choose category, click on completed listings only). The green ones will differentiate the ones that are selling. Armed with this information, you can prepare your listings.

Another important aspect is promotion of your listing. One way is to by using features offered by eBay. Another way is to list a product or two at one paisa auciton - free shipping, and promote it on the main block on eBay. Make sure that your other listings are well linked from the description of the item you are selling under one paisa.

YES, THIS IS INDEED A MAJOR PROBLEM.
AS FOR MY CASE, A SMALL EXAMPLE, A TOY,WHICH I BOUGHT JUST FOR 75/- FROM THE LOCAL MARKET, HAD, TO BE REMOVED FROM MY LISTING, AS THIS WAS A BATTERY OPERATED ONE, & AS PER THE ADVICE, FROM A VERY HELPFUL, REPUTED YOUNG POWER SELLER, FROM MY CITY, ADVICED ME TO DO THE SAME, ASAP, AS THERE COULD BE A CHANCE OF MY SUSPENSION!

1) Items such as Watches, Camera's those are operating with battery are Banned for AIR MAIL/COURIER may be it is Speed post or Private carrier.

Why ? Simple it may contain anything starting from BOMB...

Solution: ALWAYS ALWAYS remove all batteries or cells.
Just like we do on Airports, remove batteries and make items such as they will not function of there own upon handling.

Prepare a detailed declaration and send via any carrier. Goverment one's are reliable and easy to handle as most counter clerks are serving for long duration and knows cases happened previously as well as rules.
Private carrier clerks are changing weekly and other than printed rules they know nothing.
