eBay always want to ensure customers have a great experience on our platform. To help ensure this, we’ve put in place minimum performance standards for areas within a seller’s control, such as shipping within handling time and uploading a valid tracking id.

eBay's Tracking and Validation performance requirement:

1. Shipping Within Handling Time:
Buyers want to know when they can expect to get their items.

What to do:

  • Specify in your listing clearly and accurately when the item will be shipped.
  • Select the shipping option that best matches the shipping service that you offer in the listing. This helps the buyer receive the item within the stated delivery timeline.
  • Ship items within the handling time you state in your listing.
  • Upload valid tracking number against each shipped order.

2. Shipment to Receive Pickup / Acceptance Scan on eBay:

Providing tracking details for items you've sold is an industry standard and something that your buyers expect. Tracking details let buyers know where their items are throughout the shipping process and can be critical in cases where a buyer claims he/she didn't receive an item.

What to do:

  • Upload accurate tracking details.
  • Upload tracking details within your specified handling time.

Minimum Tracking & Validation:

Tracking and validation (T&V) performance percentage is determined by the percentage of orders for which (a) tracking numbers have been uploaded within the handling time and (b) acceptance scans (i.e. validation) have been received.

You should maintain a minimum T&V performance percentage as set out in the table below:

Particulars Transactions < $10 Transactions >$10

T&V Performance percentage

85% 90%

T& V Performance percentage =  (Total No. of orders for which (a)tracking number uploaded within handling time and (b)received acceptance scan)  /  (Total No. of Orders)

3. T&V performance percentage evaluation period:

We shall evaluate your T&V performance percentage on the 23rd of each month and you may access our evaluation report in Seller Hub. For each evaluation, all the orders completed during the previous calendar month will be considered. These timelines help us to make sure we're evaluating you as fairly as possible.

4. Consequences of not meeting Mandated Tracking and Validation policy:

If you're not meeting our minimum T&V performance percentage set out in the table above, we'll review your overall account history and we may place limits on your account until your performance improves. If your performance falls significantly below the minimum T&V performance percentage, we may also restrict you from selling on your account or related accounts or registering a new account.
