just checked new prices they are too high and means if i sell a iphone lets say it sells for 40,000 rupees
Ebay fee is 2800
paypal fee is 2200
so total price is 5000 rupees OMG thats lot of money
no other Ebay site charges this much ammount
i think its better not to sell here

IN most countries they charge 2.4% for final value
Paypal 2.4% as well
so if its 1000 dollars
i will pay total 50 dollars which is less than half the money Ebay india will charge

Ebay india you are going down for sure

Hi,

All over the Globe, PayPal is what PaisaPay is in India.

Across the globe, merchants pay a staggering fee for paypal.

It ranges from a high of 3.4% to a low of 2.4%. And this includes all taxes.

So now I have two very important questions here:

1) Why does PaisaPay not have a simillar staggering fee structure? High volume seller pay a lower fee. This applies the world over except India. Sirf Yahan Pe Taka Ser Bhaji aur Take Ser Khaja.

2) When paypal can make do with a median 3% charge for accepting payments from various sources, why does PaisaPay need to charge 4.5% that too with an additional service tax. Are ebaY.in sellers and ebaY.in buyers to pay extra for the inefficiences of the local outfit? Can we get the team to perform more efficiently and manage costs to global levels?

Infact the risk of chargeback has gone to a near zero with the introduction of extra level of security by RBI in Aug 2009:

http://www.rbi.org.in/scripts/NotificationUser.aspx?Id=4844&Mode=0

Chargeback risk is almost zero in India compared to much higher globally.

Just saying blah blah blab about increasing costs is simply fooling it users.

PP charges being a percentage and not fixed and hence affected by inflation. And a percentage cost usually goes down as volume goes up and not the other way round as being suggested by ebaY. ebaY sales are growing by 50% every year. So in two years sales more than doubled. The increased cost of servicing the additional 100% business is near zero as payment processing is mostly system driven and not man power intensive.

A TP Payment Processor offers a tiny merchant like me a TDR (transaction discount rate) of just 2.5% so it is same to assume that it offers a huge merchant like ebaY a TDR of less than 2%.

So I would really like to know what is the justifiction of having a having a markup of over 100%. ebaY is also earning interest on holding sellers money for two days or more (for ER sellers) and 20 days for non ER sellers.

Another suggestion:

Why doesn't PP allow sellers to pass on the EMI surcharge to the buyers. It is done all over and by every offline merchant. Everyone knows there is no free lunch and will willing to accept an EMI charge. Today those customers who do not opt of EMI are infact subsiding the buyers who do opt for EMI. What is the rationale for such irrational cross subsidy?

@cameras_n_such , I agree with you,

The FVF and PP fees should not be a fixed fee, it should be structured based on the quantum of sale per month as like in ebay.com & Paypal.

The EMI charges should be extra to be charged to the buyer who opt for EMI option. Why some else (buyer not taking EMI option) have to pay for the other ones (buyer taking EMI option) Interest fee of 1.65%?. EMI is offered for only Credit card holders of few banks, which are only less than 10% of the buyer portion. Why buyers of 90% portion have to pay same fee?

The increase in FVF should be in a same level on each categories. Why some particular categories should bare the cost your marketing expenses? How ever the beneficiaries are of those who enjoy with paying less FVF. Why should we absorb the extra 2% burden on our head?
Ebay should increase FVF @ 0.5% or 1% on all categories. Buy branded tools at cheaper prices from http://stores.ebay.in/machpowertools

Let say who cares on the fee charged. Everyone will be happy with this move when you will also improve your service levels and quality selling and buying experience.

You can improve revenue rapidly:
Remove the listing fee totally (keep some restrictions on multiple duplicate listings). Charge some good % on sales and less % for paisapay. Improve your service and support to members by working smart with existing good members.
Give some offers to selected or random members a fee free period occasionally. Sell discount coupons to Sellers where sellers can offer those coupon codes to their buyers. Start or tie up with a courier company.

EMI option being provided by EBay is the best as far as I know. There are many Muslims who would object to the scenario when the EMI charges are transferred to buyers in the form of interest.
Sellers can accomodate the 1.5% more charge on FNV on to the listing prices.
Insertion fee should be removed completely and FNF and PP fees shoulld be reduced in line with other sites.
