i won bid from ebay .com for single mobile..its rs.6100 but custom duty+panalties rs 8600..total rs 14700...what is law for home user they have not custom licese ...this case i back to sender..my email adress ***

Per my knowledge, a person in India can import goods worth Rs.5000/- only, and that too as gift. Anything above that will attract customs duty or customs duty + penalty.

You should have used a 3rd party serivce like iccworld.com to import the phone. It would have cost you much less i guess.

hi,

just ask the seller to mark the item as GIFT and amount less than $100. i ordered an iphone from ebay.com and requested seller to mark as GIFT. it arrived safely with no custom duty.
