I need help, I am getting iphone 5 from uk. The proble is how much custom duty do I have to pay on it, As I got to know from some one who recently got iphone 5, according to him he had to pay about 13k for customs only for iphone5 costing GBP599(about INR51,200), thats way too much dont you think. Plus The cost of shipping is GBP80 (INR7000) with 500 as handling charges by the courier company.
Total Costing: 51200+13000+7000+500 = 71700 (that a lot) !
I have asked him to mark it as a gift though.
Does any one know whats best way to go on this, as far as I know the custom duty on mobile phone is 2.4%, but these courier companies have people working along with the customs and they make money on this. Please help me on this.
