Received defective product. Ebay says visit customer care.

First of all i bought an EDUP wireless adapter from ebay for Rs300 and got it delivered 2 days back. I tried it in mac, linux its not working and hangs windows pc when it does run. 

Then I filed for ebay claim they say its manufacturer product visit customer care center of product. Come on. Why the hell will i go to customer care center which could be 100 kilometers from my place to replace the product worth Rs300. Why is buyer the always responsible if he gets damaged product.

I dont think there is customer care center of EDUP anywhere in haryana. Plus does that mean seller can always send defective product and buyer just go to customer care everytime after receiving. 

Even if i have to purchase same product locally, I can just go back and tell them to replace or ask for refund in that case too.

So where is ebay responsible in this case?
